Aimhigher and Keelelink University taster.
Over forty students from three schools in Bridgwater, Somerset will be participating in a residential event at Keele University on July 7th and 8th that has been put together by Aimhigher and Keelelink in collaboration with Connect South West Ltd.
Students from Chilton Trinity, Robert Blake and East Bridgwater Schools will be experiencing a taster of life at Keele University and sharing what they have learnt via Twitter. They will be spreading their learning experience on this trip to many other students, not just during the event via Twitter, but also on into the next year and beyond via video blogs. The videos will be made available after the event as a resource that can be used widely with young people, teachers and careers advisers in Somerset on an ongoing basis.
The aim is to engage and record young people’s thoughts during their time at the university over the two days through the use of real time social media. The aiming4more Twitter feed will be used by the students not only to share their thoughts about what they are learning about university life, but also to Tweet questions to nominated university students and staff who will be on hand during the two day visit to have live discussions on any topics the students may wish to ask them about.
The overall aim is to capture not just what the students are doing at Keele University, but also the way their thinking changes over the course of the two days - from the journey up on the coach to their final reflections as they travel back.
